Mandurah Basketball Association is pleased to announce the appointment of Vlad Alava to the position of Head Coach of our Cachet Homes Mandurah Magic Women’s NBL1 team for the next 3 seasons.
Vlad is an experienced and successful coach in both WA and NSW, having previously won Championships in both states as Head Coach in the WSBL and Waratah Leagues. Vlad also has extensive coaching experience in the WNBL with the Perth Lynx, West Coast Waves and Sydney Uni Flames teams, as well as WA and NSW State teams.
He is well versed and connected in the sport across the entire country having recently operated his own successful player agency business.

MBA President Adam Ahern said “We are excited to be able to appoint a coach of Vlad’s calibre and look forward to working together as he leads our strong women’s program.”

“I’d like to thank Adam, Rod and Amanda for the opportunity to lead the Magic,” said Alava.
“Despite the challenges of coming in this late in the preparation, the Magic organization and I have an identical vision of where the program needs to go in the next couple of years and I look forward to working towards achieving our common goals.”

As per FIBA regulations, Vlad Alava has suspended his Player Agent license in order to accept this position with the Mandurah Magic.
